Midjourney is always getting better. The latest version, V7, adds some helpful features that make creating images easier and faster. This post covers two cool additions: a faster way to get rough ideas, and a way to use your voice for prompts. We will also look at how to get characters that look consistent across different images.

Try Midjourney's Quick Draft Mode

Need a visual idea quickly? The Draft mode in Midjourney is perfect for this. It gives you rough versions of images very fast. Think of it like a sketch. You can use it to see if your prompt is working or to get inspiration before creating a final, high-detail image.

To turn on Draft mode:

  • Go to Midjourney's settings.

  • Select "Draft mode" instead of "Standard".

Draft mode is designed for speed. While you can adjust settings like aspect ratios (square, landscape, etc.), keeping basic settings often works best with Draft mode set to 'Fast'.

We tested Draft mode with a few different ideas:

  • A futuristic city scene at night: This gave quick images showing the overall feel.

  • A library floating in the sky: Despite being a unique idea, Draft mode produced images fast, giving a sense of how the flying library looked.

  • A samurai meditating in a digital forest: Draft mode captured the mood and lighting quickly.

  • An old tree that tells stories: The results were surprisingly real-looking, showing how good even draft images can be.

  • A music event inside a volcano: This unusual idea also produced fast images showing the scene inside a volcano.

Draft mode is great for getting many ideas fast without waiting long. It's useful for quick concepts or testing different prompts.

Speak Your Prompts with Voice Mode

Typing long prompts can be slow. Midjourney V7 introduced Voice mode, letting you speak your prompt instead of typing it. This works just like using voice search on Google or YouTube.

To use Voice mode:

  • Look for the microphone button in the prompt area.

  • Click it and speak your prompt clearly.

We tried Voice mode with prompts like "Desert of lost time" and "Mechanical butterfly made of stained glass". It picked them up correctly and generated the images based on the spoken input. This can save time and make prompting easier, especially for complex ideas.

Managing many prompts and images, whether typed or spoken, can be a task. Tools like the Midjourney Automation Suite from TitanXT can help keep track of your creations and automate parts of your workflow.

Create Consistent Characters in Midjourney

Many people need characters that look the same across different images, whether for stories, games, or videos. Midjourney V7 provides a strong way to achieve this consistent look.

The key is using a specific prompt structure focusing on angles and perspectives. A basic structure includes asking for:

  • Four angles: front, side, back, and three-quarters view.

  • Natural pose.

  • Consistent design.

Combine this structure with a simple description of your character. For example, "A cyberpunk hacker with glowing tattoos" using the angle prompt produced fantastic, consistent images showing the character from all sides.

We also tested with:

  • A woman with red hair: This showed how consistent the views were, giving clear front, side, and back images.

  • A robot with lights: The outputs were remarkably consistent, providing sketch-like views from multiple angles.

  • A pop star from the future (2090): This gave several consistent images of futuristic pop stars.

  • A magician facing shadows: The consistency technique worked well here too.

Another way to keep characters consistent while changing the scene is by using an image prompt. First, create a character you like. Then, drag that character image into the prompt area. Add text describing the new scene, like "make the background in the jungle." The system uses the original image as a base for keeping the character the same while putting them in a new background.

For instance, we created an elemental warrior, then used the image prompt technique to place the same warrior character into a jungle scene. Similarly, a witch character was kept consistent while changing the background to a street scene, keeping the oil painting style used previously.

Keeping character designs the same across many images is much easier with these techniques. For creating multiple character images or variations quickly, exploring automation tools like the Midjourney Automation Suite from TitanXT could streamline the process.

Wrap Up

Midjourney V7 brings features like the quick Draft mode, helpful Voice mode, and improved ways to create consistent characters. These tools make creating images faster, more flexible, and better for projects needing repeatable elements. Explore these new capabilities to enhance your image generation experience.
