Midjourney V7 is here! This big update brings exciting changes to the popular image generation tool. If you used past versions, you will notice differences. If you are new, now is a great time to start. This guide covers the latest features and basic steps to help you create amazing images with Midjourney V7.

What's Different in V7?

V7 changes how Midjourney works behind the scenes. It uses a different way to generate images. This makes images more consistent.

  • Text Support: V7 can now understand and generate text in images better, even in Japanese.

  • Faster Draft Mode: There is a new draft mode that can generate images much faster (up to 10x). It uses less cost but makes lower quality images at first. You can upgrade your favorites later.

  • Better Standard Quality: The usual generation mode also improved a lot. You will see better details, like textures and small objects. Hands and expressions look better too.

  • Anime Style: The ability to create anime-style images is much improved in V7.

These updates mean you can get results closer to what you want, faster than before.

Start with the Web Version: Personalization

The web version of Midjourney is very helpful now. One key feature starts when you use the web version: Personalization.

Personalization lets Midjourney learn the kind of images you like. It helps the AI make images that match your taste better. It's easy to set up.

  • Go to the web version.

  • Find the Personalization tab or section.

  • You will see two images. Click the one you like more.

  • Do this about 200 times. This trains the AI.

  • After setup, you can turn Personalization on or off in your profile bar.

Training Midjourney this way helps it understand your style. Future images will be more likely to fit what you prefer.

Understanding Key Settings

Before you generate, look at the settings. Find the settings icon. Here is what some options do:

  • Aspect Ratio: Sets the shape of your image (wide, tall, square).

  • Aesthetics: This group of settings controls how much the AI adds its own style or creativity. Higher numbers mean more playfulness from the AI.

  • Stylization: How artistic the image is.

  • Weirdness: How strange or unexpected the image is. Note: This setting is not fully working in V7 yet. If you get errors, check if Weirdness was accidentally set.

  • Variety: How much difference there is between the four generated images from one prompt.

  • Model: Choose between Standard and Raw mode.

  • Standard: This makes images that have the usual Midjourney look.

  • Raw: This mode reduces the typical Midjourney look, making images appear more like photographs or less processed.

  • Version: Make sure this is set to V7.

  • Generation Speed: Usually, Fast mode is fine to use.

Using V7 Features

Now you can start creating. Let's look at some features.

Draft Mode and Voice Input

Turn on Draft Mode using the icon on the bar. Type your prompt, or use the mic icon for voice input.

  • Click the mic icon.

  • Speak your prompt clearly.

  • Midjourney will understand your words and start generating.

  • You can keep speaking to add more details to your prompt as it generates.

Voice input makes it easy to quickly test ideas just by talking.

Working with Generated Images

After images appear, you have options. Below an image, you will see buttons.

  • Vary: Regenerates based on the selected image. There are different levels like Sugar (less change) and Stronger (more change).

  • Upscaling: This makes a Draft mode image (or even a Standard one) larger and higher quality.

  • Rerun: Generates the image again with the same settings.

  • Editor: Opens the image in an editing tool (more on this below).

  • Use: Shows options for referencing this image for future prompts (like image-to-image, style reference, or character reference).

Tips for Better Results

Prompt Order and Weight

The order of words in your prompt matters. The words you use first can have more impact on the final image. Try putting the most important ideas at the start of your prompt.

Weight (using `::` after a word to make it more or less important) is a useful feature. It's not in V7 yet, but it works in earlier versions like V6. It is expected in V7 later. This lets you emphasize or de-emphasize specific words in your prompt by adding `::` followed by a number (like `word::2` to emphasize or `word::0.5` to de-emphasize).

Character and Style References

Creating consistent characters or styles is a big goal. Character Reference is a feature for this. It lets you use an image as a basis for a character's look in new images. This feature is not in V7 yet, but you can use V7 images as references in V6.

Style Reference works similarly but copies the artistic style of an image. This also works by referencing images in V6 right now.

To use these in V6:

  • Upload the image you want to use (like a V7 image).

  • Click the image icon next to the prompt bar.

  • Choose Character Reference or Style Reference.

  • Select the uploaded image.

  • Type your new prompt (in English for V6).

These features help make a series of images look consistent. While waiting for them in V7, try them in V6. Midjourney is always adding new features and improving. Stay updated for the smoothest experience.

Making many images or keeping characters the same across scenes can be time-consuming. The Midjourney Automation Suite by TitanXT can help automate these tasks and improve your creative output.

Using the Editor

The Editor tool lets you change parts of your image. Upload your own image or select one you generated.

  • Eraser: Removes parts you don't want.

  • Restoration: Brings back parts you erased.

  • Select: Automatically chooses parts of the image (like clothes or objects).

  • Remove / Isolate: After selecting, you can remove the selected part or keep only the selected part.

  • Suggest Prompt: Creates a text prompt based on the selected image area. Handy for changing things like clothing color.

The editor gives you power to fine-tune your images after generation.

Midjourney V7 brings better quality, new speed options, and soon more tools for consistency. Personalizing your experience helps the AI learn your style. Exploring the settings and features like Draft mode and the Editor will help you get the best results.
