Want to make your AI art look amazing? Midjourney is a powerful tool, but just typing words isn't enough. To get the results you really want, you need to use special settings called parameters. These parameters give you more control over the final picture. Let's look at some easy tips and tricks that can help you transform your basic AI images into something special.

Choose the Right Midjourney Model

Did you know Midjourney has several different "brains" it can use to create images? These are called models or versions. Each one has a slightly different style and way of interpreting your words.

You can see and change the default model by typing `/settings`. The available models include:

  • Versions 1, 2, and 3: These are older models. V1 and V2 were the first versions and have a more artistic look. V3 is better but still not as advanced as V4.

  • Version 4 (V4): This is the current default model. It's the most advanced and usually creates the most detailed and high-quality realistic or artistic images you see everywhere.

  • Niji Mode: This model is specifically designed for anime and illustrative styles.

  • Test and Test Photo: These are experimental models. Test is somewhere between V3 and V4, often producing quite photo-realistic results. Test Photo aims for maximum photographic realism.

To use a specific model for a picture, add ` --v ` followed by the version number (e.g., ` --v 3` for version 3, ` --v 4` for version 4). For Niji, use ` --niji`. For Test, use ` --test`. For Test Photo, use ` --testp`.

Experimenting with different models using the same text can show you how they change the result. For example, prompting "Sam the Cat" will look very different in V1 compared to V4 or Niji.

Set Your Image Shape with Aspect Ratio

Aspect ratio controls the width and height of your image. It's written like ` --ar width:height`.

Different Midjourney models support different maximum aspect ratios:

[LI]Niji Mode: Supports maximum ratios like ` --ar 1:2` and ` --ar 2:1`.[/LI>

[/UL]

Setting the aspect ratio helps you control the final shape of your image, whether you want a standard square, a wide landscape, or a tall portrait.

Add Variety Using Chaos

The chaos parameter (`--chaos` or `--c`) influences how varied the initial grid of images will be. A low chaos value (like ` --c 0`) will make the four starting images look very similar to each other in terms of style and layout.

A high chaos value (like ` --c 100`) will make the four images look quite different, exploring different approaches to your prompt. You can pick any number between 0 and 100 (e.g., ` --c 50`).

Using ` --chaos` is a great way to explore different artistic directions for the same idea without having to rewrite your prompt completely. It works with all Midjourney models.

Managing many prompts and variations like this can get complex. Consider using a tool like the Midjourney Automation Suite from TitanXT to help organize and manage your creative process more efficiently.

Remove Things with Negative Prompting

Sometimes it's easier to say what you *don't* want in your image. The ` --no` parameter does just that. Add ` --no ` followed by the word or words for what you want Midjourney to try and leave out.

For example, if you prompt "Sam the Cat" but don't want the color red anywhere, you would add ` --no red`. Midjourney will then try its best to exclude any red from the generated images. You can include multiple words after ` --no` to remove several things.

Negative prompting works across all Midjourney models and gives you another layer of control over the image content.

Understand Style Options in Version 4

Version 4 of Midjourney has additional stylistic controls. You can add ` --style` followed by ` 4a`, ` 4b`, or ` 4c`.

These stylistic models offer different visual interpretations within the V4 engine:

  • Style 4a: Tends to be more illustrative.

  • Style 4b: Is slightly more illustrative but also has photographic elements.

  • Style 4c: Is the most photographic among the V4 styles.

Using these style parameters in V4 lets you fine-tune the artistic feel of your images even further.

Use Image Prompts with Image Weight

Besides using text, you can also use an image as part of your prompt. You do this by pasting an image URL at the beginning of your prompt.

The ` --iw` (image weight) parameter tells Midjourney how much importance to give to the image prompt compared to the text prompt. This parameter works with V1, V2, V3, Test, and Test Photo models (it does not work with V4 or Niji mode as of now).

The default image weight is ` --iw 0.25`. You can increase it to ` 0.5, 1, 2,` or ` 5` to make Midjourney pay more attention to the image you provided.

Using image weight can be a bit tricky to master, but it allows you to guide Midjourney using visual examples as well as words.

Managing image URLs, text prompts, and various parameters can be complicated. Streamline your workflow and get consistent results by exploring automated tools. Check out the Midjourney Automation Suite by TitanXT designed to enhance your creative process.

Putting It Together

Using parameters like models, aspect ratio, chaos, negative prompts, style, and image weight gives you much greater control over your Midjourney creations. Instead of letting the AI guess what you want, you can guide it more precisely.

By trying these tips, you'll move beyond basic images and start creating the specific artistic visions you have in mind. Keep experimenting to see how each parameter changes your results!
