Many videos show off AI design tools like Midjourney for cool creative projects. But can you use them for real client work? Absolutely. This post shows how to use Midjourney from generating initial ideas to designing a logo and website hero section for a client project, focusing on saving time and getting practical results.

Starting a Client Project with AI

We looked at a client project for Blue Sky Villas, a vacation rental company. Their old website needed a modern update. Instead of spending hours drawing mockups, we went straight to Midjourney to quickly get ideas for a refresh.

Midjourney runs inside Discord. It's helpful to join a community server to see what others are creating and learn from their prompts. This helps you figure out how to get the designs you want.

Generating Initial Layout Ideas

To start, we used a basic prompt like: `/imagine modern landing page for a vacation rental company in Florida white space yellow orange version five`

Midjourney gives you four design options. You can upscale one you like or get variations based on a specific option.

Refining Your AI Prompts

The first results were too yellow and dark. We adjusted the prompt to get a cleaner look. We removed "orange" and added "simplistic" and changed "vacation rental company" to "home rental company" for a different feel.

The new results were much better – more white space, cleaner lines, and a more modern feel. This shows how small prompt changes make a big difference. We quickly found options that gave a strong structure and layout for the homepage hero section.

Selecting and Preparing Designs

From the better options, we selected one version for variations and another to upscale. Getting variations helps explore different takes on a promising design. Upscaling provides a higher resolution image of the chosen design.

This initial process saves a lot of time compared to manually sketching or designing multiple options from scratch. You get solid starting points very quickly.

Turning AI Output Into a Working Design

Midjourney provides images, but you can't directly pull elements from them into a website design.

Moving to Design Software (Figma)

The next step is to take the saved Midjourney output into design software like Figma. Here, you recreate the Midjourney layout. We duplicated the structure, header, text block positions, and decorative elements like the yellow boxes.

Instead of a generic call to action from the AI image, we added specific form fields for arrival/departure dates and guest numbers, which is needed for a real rental site.

Adding Real Images

While you might be able to enhance the Midjourney image resolution further, it's often better to use stock photos for real client projects to ensure high quality and proper licensing. We used Adobe Stock to find a suitable exterior image that fit the Florida vibe with palm trees and blue skies. We tested the watermarked image in the design before licensing the high-resolution version.

Creating a Logo with Midjourney

The client's old logo also needed an update.

Generating Logo Concepts

Midjourney can also generate logo ideas. We used a prompt like: `/imagine simplistic icon logo of house sun and palm tree white version five`

This quickly gave us several basic icon concepts. We chose a couple that caught our eye and asked Midjourney for variations on those specific options.

The variations provided simplistic icon images featuring a house, palm tree, and circle. They were similar in concept to the client's existing logo but much fresher.

Using Midjourney for logos is a great way to brainstorm ideas quickly if a full branding process isn't planned. It offers the client a new look efficiently.

From AI Logo to Vector

Like website layouts, you can't use the Midjourney image file as a final logo (which needs to be vector-based for scalability). You save the best Midjourney logo concept image and take it into vector graphics software like Adobe Illustrator.

There, you use the Midjourney image as a guide to recreate the logo as a vector graphic. For this project, a simple flat design was chosen, making it easier to recreate in Illustrator as a high-resolution PNG.

Results and Time Savings

Comparing the client's old website to the new design mock-up created with Midjourney's help shows a huge improvement.

This entire process – getting initial layouts and a logo concept – took less than an hour using Midjourney as a brainstorming and idea tool. This isn't about Midjourney designing the *final* website file, but about drastically saving time on the crucial initial design and concept phase. You can quickly generate many different ideas, color schemes, and layouts.

Tools like the Midjourney Automation Suite by TitanXT can help enhance and automate parts of your Midjourney workflow, allowing you to generate concepts even faster and more efficiently.

Conclusion

Using AI tools like Midjourney is practical for real client projects, especially in the early brainstorming and concept stages. It saves significant time by providing quick visual ideas for layouts and logos. While you still need traditional design software to build the final assets, the AI outputs give you a strong head start.

Incorporating tools like the Midjourney Automation Suite from TitanXT can further streamline your process, making your design workflow more efficient.
