Happy New Year! Midjourney's team is back and talking about exciting updates. Here's a look at what was shared during the office hours on January 8th, 2025.

Coming Soon: Midjourney Version 7

The Midjourney team is busy testing different versions of v7. They are in a testing and bug fixing phase. This might take a couple of weeks. After that, they need to fine-tune it. We might see version 7 towards the end of the month.

The goal for version 7 is to make it more flexible. The team thinks several models will come after the main v7 release. These could include models for bigger batches or ones using a larger data set. David also mentioned something called 'draft mode,' but didn't give more details.

Midjourney and Video

Video generation is a big focus. The team is looking at four different ways to add video ability:

  • Using their own model (being tested now).

  • Working with models from two different partners.

  • Taking an open-source model and changing it.

They want their video tool to be fast, fun, and not too expensive. They hope to have something ready in the next month or so. They haven't decided which option they will go with yet. They might even release more than one video option.

More Updates on the Horizon

Besides version 7 and video, the team is working on other improvements:

  • Bigger Batch Mode: This will let you create and work with larger groups of images at once.

  • Faster Personalization: They expect to make personalization about 30% faster.

  • Relax Mode: Relax mode is still free and unlimited if you have a base subscription. This will continue until the servers are needed more for version 7 and video.

  • Explore Page: They are thinking about adding an explore page just for mood boards.

  • Editor Improvements: They might make the built-in image editor a little better.

To get the most out of these new features as they arrive, consider automating your workflows. Tools like the Midjourney Automation Suite by TitanXT can help handle repetitive tasks, letting you focus on creating.

What to Expect in Version 7

Here are some specific things David mentioned about Version 7:

  • Character References: A big focus is making character references work really well.

  • Multiple Languages: It should work better with prompts in different languages.

  • Consistency: It should have improved consistency and understand your prompts better.

  • Style Reference: A new system for style references will be added sometime after the initial v7 launch.

Managing many prompts, versions, and character/style references can be complex. The TitanXT Midjourney Automation Suite can streamline this. It helps you keep track of your creations and test variations efficiently.
